I would lean towards sterling because i have hands that have trouble reaching around the thickness of a p or stingray neck. If you, however, are aiming at the "classic stingray" tone then you probably ought to get the classic stingray or the 40th anniversary version. HH is my fav, the original tone is right there, as well as the most options.
Pearl Blue. Sterling 4 HH offers extra power and extra versatility in the standard four-stringed pack. This one is for the players who play in standard and slightly lowered tunings. If it wasn't for the narrow string spacing both at the nut and at the bridge, I would own a Stingray 5. Total nut width on a Ray 5 is 1-3/4", and I believe bridge spacing is 5/8". I could be wrong, but it's definitely not 3/4", which is the "standard" spacing on Fender basses (fours and fives).
